Mob of the Dead remains one of the most iconic experiences in Call of Duty Zombies history due to its atmospheric setting and engaging narrative. The primary storyline quest, known as Pop Goes the Weasel, tasks players with breaking a haunting loop of execution and rebirth. Completing this complex objective requires thorough preparation, team coordination, and precise execution of multiple map mechanics.

Essential Setup and Equipment Gathering

Before launching into the main storyline sequence, players must assemble key items across Alcatraz Island. Building the Icarus plane allows survivors to travel to the Golden Gate Bridge and access the vital Pack-A-Punch machine. Additionally, players need to claim the Hell's Retriever by feeding the three spectral hellhounds scattered throughout the prison complex.

Acquiring upgraded weaponry like the Acid Gat further ensures survival during higher rounds and intense zombie encounters. Collecting blue glowing skulls via the Hell's Retriever provides a free Blundergat, streamlining your team's arsenal setup. Taking time to master Afterlife mechanics will also prove essential for activating hidden switches later on.

Entering the Number Sequences

Once you have flown to the Golden Gate Bridge three separate times, the next phase of the storyline becomes available. Players must navigate down to the Citadel Tunnels spiral staircase to interact with the electrical volt meters. Entering the afterlife state allows players to shock the meters to input specific prisoner ID numbers.

The required sequence includes inputting 101, 872, 386, and 481 in order to advance the quest. Completing these inputs triggers audio logs detailing the prisoners' past escape attempt and lore. Audio headsets will subsequently drop along the path leading up toward the prison roof.

The Final Flight and Showdown

After picking up the final audio log, every player must enter Afterlife mode and board the plane on the roof one last time. The flight automatically teleports the entire squad directly to the Golden Gate Bridge for the grand climax. Reviving your human bodies on the electric chairs sets up the unique player-versus-player finale.

During this showdown, Albert "Weasel" Arlington is pitted directly against the other three mobsters in a fight to the death. If the three mobsters eliminate Weasel, the tragic story loop continues as normal. However, if Weasel successfully kills his former allies, the cycle is permanently broken.

Quest Completion Rewards

Finishing Pop Goes the Weasel awards players the Pop Goes the Weasel achievement or trophy alongside major narrative closure. Successfully completing the storyline immediately concludes the match, displaying a custom game over screen reflecting the narrative outcome. Breaking the cycle provides one of the most satisfying endings in Call of Duty Zombies history.
